STRYCHNINE (pesticides)

This kind of poisoning occurs most commonly as a result of malicious poisoning. The suspected source or samples of vomit should be collected for analysis by your veterinarian. Symptoms include muscle stiffness and convulsions triggered by loud noises or by petting the dog. Strychnine poisoning is often fatal. Give water or milk and transport the dog to the veterinarian immediately in a box or carrier (to reduce handling). Avoid loud noise or sudden movements.
